Ajay Devgn thanks Shah Rukh Khan

Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan were never known to be the best of friends. Despite them sharing a common link (Kajol, the former’s wife, and the latter’s best friend), the two have never seen eye to eye. Ajay’s friendship with Salman Khan, SRK’s arch nemesis was touted as the reason for the same.

Their rivalry seemingly intensified in 2012, when Ajay devgn’s Son of Sardaar, clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, at the box office. Ajay accused the makers of Jab Tak Hai Jaan of dirty tactics, and claimed that they had arm twisted exhibitors into giving them the lion’s share of screens for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, thus jeopardizing the fate of Son of Sardaar. Right when things got ugly, Kajol, and Rani Mukherjee intervened, and sorted this mess.
However, the general consensus was that there is a lot of bad blood between these two big wigs of Bollywood.

Recently, SRK took to Twitter and wished director Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn luck for Singham Returns, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, thus ending this cold war.

Ajay Devgn told reporters at the press conference, “I am very thankful to him for that. I think all the problems that are published and shown in media are baseless. There has never been a problem. We all wish others ‘all the best’. We work as one unit.” Shah Rukh Khan recently visited Ajay Devgn on the sets of the film Singham Returns “He had come on the sets and we did talk. It is okay… why make an issue out of it.” said Devgn.

So much so, that speculations are rife that the first teaser trailer of SRK’s upcoming Diwali release Happy New Year, will be released with Singham Returns. The director of Singham Returns, Rohit Shetty, apparently shares good vibes with Shah Rukh Khan, whom he directed in last year’s blockbuster Chennai Express. It is also being said that Rohit Shetty played peacemaker between the two, and asked them to hug it out.

Ajay Devgn, and Shah Rukh Khan are two of the biggest names in Bollywood, and hence have massive egos. Yet, Shah Rukh Khan extended an olive branch to Ajay Devgn, and Ajay Devgn, very graciously accepted it.

This will go a long way in deciding the future of Bollywood, as people have even started hinting at a possible future collaboration between the two actors, which will likely be directed by the man who got them together, Rohit Shetty.

And while it is too early to talk of a future movie with the two actors in it, it is surely an enticing prospect. All hell is sure to break loose at the box office, if these two giants were to act together. It is worth noting that these two have never shared screen space, despite each being in the industry for more than 20 years.

For what it’s worth, this is a mutually beneficial relationship between the two. Wonder how much role Kajol had to play in this.
